Choosing your Perfect Wedding Dress
I have been asked many times 'How will I know when I have found the right Wedding Dress?' Finding 'The Dress' is all about love at first sight. You will put it on and you will know. You instantly imagine yourself floating down the isle and will not be able to wait for the day to arrive when you can actually wear your chosen dress.
Now let's consider reality! Weddings can be extremely stressful. Hopefully it will be a once in a lifetime event or if you are like me and had to 'Kiss a lot of frogs before you found your Prince', it is still a wonderful and special day in your life. We all want it to be perfect so starting to plan with plenty of time this is the key.
Recommended timetable
In most cases, your Wedding dress will be made to order and take 12 - 16 weeks to be delivered to the shop. Should holidays such as Christmas or Easter fall within that time add an extra week or two for delivery? Further time is then needed to have fittings or alterations done. I would therefore recommend between six months to one year before your Wedding is the ideal time to order your dress.
Once your dress has been ordered you should get your shoes (and wear them around your house) so that they do not cripple you on your big day. It will be vital to have your shoes in time for your first fitting to ensure the hem of your dress is the correct length. One other consideration if you do not normally wear heals then do not choose a heal which is too big as this could also cause problems on your Wedding day.
The other important item to give some thought to is the underwear that you are going to wear with your dress. You will again need this to be able to guarantee that any alterations that may be needed to your Wedding dress will not be spoilt by the sudden appearance of a padded bra.
